Tzolkin Trecena Notes – 1 Vulture (Cib)

Day 196 of the 260 Day Tzolkin
Gregorian Date: January 20, 2018
Year Bearer: 5 Wind (Ik)

Trecenas are thirteen-day periods in the Tzolkin. Each Trecena starts with the Number 1, but with a different Day Glyph. As a wave of the Thirteen Heavens, the underlying energy is governed by the First Day Glyph of the Trecena and influences all thirteen successive Day Glyphs. Being aware of the predominant energy of the First Day of the Trecena, we can align our intentions with that energy and allow our goals to manifest.

This Trecena starts with 1 Cib – Vulture/Owl – Ancient Warrior, Keeper of Wisdom, Defender of Universal Consciousness, Silent Inner Strength of Convictions.

“This glyph signifies the mind in a state of forgiveness and illumination. It is a brain with rays, lines of expansion, reaching out in all directions.” Carlos Barrios The Book of Destiny.

In Mayan cosmology, there were four divine figures called the Bacabs (Bah KAHBS) who personified the four directions and were responsible for holding up the sky in each of the four corners. They were depicted as beekeepers or sometimes even gigantic bees and wore conch shells on their heads. The Maya associated this day sign with the conch shell as its spiral shape symbolizes emergence and rebirth. In many ancient cultures, the spiral represents death and rebirth as an ongoing process taking place within the human soul. To the Maya, the day sign of the Vulture also represented departed spirits returning as butterflies or bees.

This day sign is associated with Vulture because the Vulture not only feeds on the remains of the dead, but also clears away the past. Vulture symbolically represents the purging of karmic patterns and the emergence of new thought. Vultures and Owls were also revered as great teachers and Keepers of Ancient Wisdom. According to Tony Shearer in Beneath the Moon and Under the Sun, “In a Mayan translation of this sign we learn that this day was a day of God, the Creator of All, when just before the end of the long 1144 year epic the Creator would come down and clean up all the filth and corruption on our Earth Mother, as the Sacred Buzzard cleans the filth from our highways and fields.” NOW is the time to clear out the past (forgive and forget) in order to harmonize with the new energies of the new cycle.

Carlos Barrios in The Book of Destiny states that Cib “is a favorable day to ask for and receive forgiveness, to manage harmony and discord, and to focus on the word, the message, ancestral lines, and the energy that emanates from living bodies, called an aura.”

Another representation of the Trecena is that of a creative wave beginning at 1 and ending at 13, with the numbers 6, 7 and 8 representing the crest of the wave. The crest could be interpreted as a strong influential energy, although the underlying influence on the Trecena would still rest in the beginning. In this Trecena, the crest falls on 6 Imix (Crocodile/Waterlily), 7 Ik (Wind) and 8 Akbal (Night/Hearth). Crocodile represents ancient primal forces and new beginnings. Wind is the spirit or chi energy that gives life to primal energy. Night represents the temple which houses the soul. The Cib trecena encourages us to clear out old habits and patterns. The energies available at the crest (new beginnings flowing in the wind influencing our spiritual house) will help us to attain a new level of awareness and new patterns of existence.

As we journey through each day of this Trecena:

Utilize the energy of Cib to release old patterns which no longer serve in order to make way for new ideas and opportunities to emerge. Something has to be surrendered NOW in order for transformation to take place.

Cib / Ajmaq is one of the most complex of all the day signs, but one of its core meanings is “forgiveness.” As we become aware of areas in life where the harmony has been lost, this day calls upon us to forgive. THE TRECENA OF WISDOM / CIB

Greetings Kin,

The next 13 days

We begin again under the guidance of Wisdom/CIB, the Day Sign that connects us to the Old Ones, the Ascended Masters who walked this way before. The glyph represents the mind in its highest state of consciousness, made possible by forgiveness. The CIB trecena can clear the way for greater progress and help us manifest a transformation to Higher Wisdom.

Through a Higher Vision, AKBAL helped us see the Light that always shines in our darkness, and prepared us for a New Beginning of Higher Possibility. CIB calls us to enter a time of personal reflection to look at ourselves and re-examine our experiences. CIB helps us to Gather Wisdom from a treasure within our Self.

PORTAL DAYS: Element of Ether – The Wisdom/CIB trecena includes 2 Portal Days that will thin the veil to other dimensions. These are days when we are capable to Experience our Spiritual Gifts and Feel the Truth of our Connection to the Ancestors. A Portal on 2 Earth/CABAN will help to clarify a new Intention. And, on 8 Night/AKBAL, our Discernment of Spirit will be magnified by the Peak Energy of Divine Justice.

PEAK DAYS/PEAK EXPERIENCES:

• 6 Crocodile/IMIX – Our primordial Mother will guide a Way of Movement that draws upon our imagination to inspire a new and innovative approach to life.

• 7 Wind/IK – We find our Balance through a reflection on Breath of Life and Spirit.

• 8 Night/AKBAL – Divine Agency offers a Gift of Divine Justice that offers a Transformation of Spirit.

• 9 Seed/KAN – An effort of Patience expands our Perspective so we are able to see Higher Truth about the Spark of Creation within.

10th and 11th UINAL: 5 Sun/AHAU completes a Higher Intention of Manifestation. On the Tone 5 of Empowerment, we will Manifest a new Light of Understanding. As 6 Crocodile/IMIX moves us into the 11th Uinal, we are drawn into a cycle that will reveal our Higher Intention and Divine Purpose.

THE TURNAROUND

1-Ajmaj is the only trecena in the Tzolkin round that has the first 4 sun-signs of the uinal neatly adorning the crest of the trecena, populating stages 6 through 9. There is therefore a unique balance between the tenth uinal’s last 5 sun-signs initiating the trecena (Ajmaj, Noj, Tijax, Kawok, and Ajpu), and the first 8 of the eleventh uinal completing it.

Therefore, this trecena, which teaches me about the sanctity and holiness of both spirit and matter, begins with the complex and abstract aspects of the uinal, and is “turned around” by the most basic aspects of prehistory, raw reality, early teachings and understandings.

So what am I doing here writing this blog? I’m reaching back through the mists of the past into a fascinating ancient culture, to bring some valuable early teachings and understandings back to the now.

You know, the lessons most needed today. A pinch from grandpa’s old tobacco bag.

This is Ajmaj. It is realizing that in order to get rid of twisted karma that still, for some reason, interferes with achieving a better now – I need to go even further back in time for possible solutions. Ancient understandings seem to predate the modern origin of division and confusion I experience today (what the Maya called ‘the error in time’), so I’m therefore tapping into a singular/unifying-kind of wisdom.

I’m talking about those precise answers dad comes up with, wearing a wrinkled brow....READ MORE
